Interim Chaplain

POSITION PURPOSE
The interim chaplain will manage the pastoral care for students, faculty, and staff, manage and deliver chapel services on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, participate as requested in speaking engagements, and coordinate programming related to the chaplaincy. The interim chaplain will also manage student workers and guide student organizations including Lakeland's Spiritual Life Council (SLC), which may include participating in SLC events on and off campus. This position includes some budgetary responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Interim University Chaplain is responsible for active support and oversight of spiritual life at Lakeland, including:
Working with faculty and with student development team to develop departmental programing that addresses student spiritual needs and supports student persistence, completion, and success.
Serving as the primary point of contact for spiritual life at Lakeland.
Coordinating and/or conducting chapel services at least weekly throughout academic terms.
Providing pastoral care for students, faculty, and staff.
Participating as requested in speaking engagements on behalf of the university.
Providing leadership in Lakeland's Spiritual Life Council and other appropriate student groups, including engaging events that may occur off-campus in the evening or on a weekend.
Supervising assigned student workers.
Participating as directed in initiatives to support wellness and retention, including but not limited to the Lakeland Intervention Team.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & SKILLS
Div. or equivalent degree.
Ordination is required (seminary candidates pursuing ordination may be considered); while UCC ordination is preferred, candidates with ordination in other Christian denominations will also be considered.
CPE experience preferred.
Broad and inclusive understanding of campus ministry, including ability to offer support for Christian worship as well as interfaith initiatives.
Ability to work effectively with individuals of varying ages, backgrounds, experiences, and motivations, including Lakeland students, faculty, and staff (facilities, student affairs, human resources, finance).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Evening and weekend hours periodically required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
